Navigational Aid Disclaimer
The West Panache Campers' (Espanola) Association currently provide a Ministry of Transport Approved navigational aid at the Dock Rock Lighthouse with the yellow flashing light. Every attempt will be made to position this aid in our waterway from May 15 to Thanksgiving weekend each year. The purpose of this aid is to help boaters prevent injury to health and property while travelling these areas of West Bay.
Although an effort is being made to mark some lake or waterway hazards, the West Panache Campers' (Espanola) Association, its members, directors and volunteers are not responsible to ensure all hazards are marked or continue to be marked. Every individual operator of a watercraft is solely responsible for safe boating including the avoidance of any water hazard.

Dock Etiquette
- Please use common courtesy when dropping off or picking up people or items on the dock
- Do not back down unless you are going to load or unload immediately
- If you need to get your boat, please do not leave a vehicle on the dock while you go to retrieve it
- When unloading, do not take the time to load your boat at the same time when there are people waiting to use the dock
- Unload/load in the area indicated in yellow if at all possible. Adhere to the 10 minute time limit.
- Obtain permission to leave your boat at the dock for an extended period of time (contact list with phone numbers on bulletin board)
- Use the end of the dock to load or unload large quantities of material so that you do not block others from the dock.
- Respect the 'Maximum Load Limit 5 Tons' sign
- It is a "NO WAKE ZONE' as you approach the main dock
Dock Fees
Each person launching a boat must pay a launch fee. A single launch is defined as taking a boat in AND out of the water. There are three ways to pay:
- Annual launch fee (see Fees/Membership) paid through a WPCA director (this option is best for those planning on taking their boat in and out of the water more than four times in a single season)
- Single $10 Launch fee paid through a WPCA director (ideal for members to pay with their membership, knowing that they will be bringing their boat to the lake and leaving it here for the season)
- Paying at the dock by the following: a) obtaining envelope in box on the fire shack b) write your name and car license number on outside of envelope c) depositing $10 in envelope d) place sealed envelope in locked metal deposit box e) display the pass found in envelope, on your car dash (ideal for the public and also for those bringing their boat to the lake)
- Vehicle parking fees are in addition to dock fees at $5/Day
Parking
Additional/overflow VEHICLE parking is available in the WPCA parking lot located ~ 100 meters past dock ramp. Cost of parking in the lot is $5 per day payable via the drop box located on the red fire shack at the ramp or is also included with your annual dock and parking pass fee. When parking here, please ensure you display your annual coloured dock and parking pass on your dash or mirror, as proof of payment. If you have paid via the dock box you MUST display the ‘yello pass’ located in money envelope or risk being Towed.
(TAGGED TRAILER PARKING) Trailers that are removed from vehicles
On long weekends our parking lot is overflowing. Often times, trailers block access to valuable parking spots. IF YOU LIVE IN THE VICINITY AND DO NOT NEED TO PARK YOUR TRAILER IN THE LOT, KINDLY TAKE IT HOME FOR THE SEASON. If you do need to park your trailer here,
we have created a trailer tag ($20 FEE OR PART OF ALL INCLUSIVE MEMBERSHIP - Non Members $50) that enables your association to contact you should the need to move your trailer arise. Tagged trailers are to be parked in the 'tagged' trailer areas' as signed in the main parking lot.
Gate on Dock
In the fall of 2011 a permanent gate was installed at the end of the dock, at the bottom of the launch ramp. The purpose of this gate is to prevent winter damage from vehicles and ice shacks. The gate will be kept locked all winter. When the ice leaves, the gate will be removed to allow maximum dock access.
